Rev. Edgar Keys, III was born in Greenwood Mississippi on December 20, 1928. He was the son of the late Edgar and Ladell Keys, II.
Edgar professed a hope in Christ at an early age and went on to become a minister of the gospel.
Edgar moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1952. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Washington Gaines on June 27, 1970. Edgar and Mary enjoyed 50 years of marriage.
Edgar worked for Northwood Christian Church and retired after 35 years of service. He also was Pastor at Peter Rock Baptist Church for 18 yrs. until his health began to fail. He joined Newfound Faith under the leadership of Rev. E.C. Turner where he became Asst. Pastor until his death.
Edgar was a 33 Degree Mason in Fidelity Lodge 55, where he also served as a Chaperon.
Rev. Edgar Keys, III departed this earthly life to be with the Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the age of ninety-one years old.
He leaves to mourn his memory his wife of 50 years, Mary Washington Gaines Keys; sons, Larry (Dot) Keys of Mississippi, John Keys of Georgia; James (Christina) Keys of Indiana, Christopher (Taffanee) Keys of Indiana, and Jonathan Keys of Indiana; stepsons, Ray Larkins of Texas; Adie (Venus) Gaines and Anthony Gaines of Indiana; daughters, Evie Schulark of Mississippi, Rene (Troy) Hillard of Florida; stepdaughter, Tammy Gaines of Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 4 generations of great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evenell Harris of Indiana and host of nieces and nephews.
