Eva Nell Nicholson was born on August 18, 1931 in Springfield, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Admire and Ethel Woodson.

Eva completed her primary and secondary education in the Springfield public school system and graduated from Bradford High School. She went on to complete two years of college at Tennessee State University.

Eva united in Holy Matrimony with late George W. Nicholson, Jr. on June 14, 1953 and relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in September of 1953 where they began a family of their own. They were the proud parents of four children.

Eva accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in 1954. She served as an Usher, Deaconess, and in the Lady’s Chorus and the Gospel choirs. She remained faithful until her illness.

Eva was a substitute teacher for the Indianapolis Public School System. Prior to substitute teaching, she did day work. She cleaned various homes and babysat a number of children, who still share fond memories of their time spent with her. Eva’s favorite past-time was talking on the telephone. She especially loved talking to her family and close friends.

She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the age of eighty-nine years old. She was preceded in death by her husband and seven siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Gwendolyn Bledsoe (Larry), Beverly Quarles, Charles Nicholson (Terri), and Timothy Nicholson (Shantell); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family.
