Ms. Julia Rose White Chambliss was born on July 8, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the daughter of Rev. Ulysses J. White and Dorothy Mae Holt White, both preceded her in death.

Julia received her primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School System. She graduated from Shortridge High School.  Julia went on to attend IUPUI.

Anyone who knew Julia  could sense her strong work ethic.  She began her career at Ft. Benjamin Harrison Finance Center, working her way up to supervisor and receiving many commendations before taking an early retirement to care for her ailing mother.  Julia continued to work various jobs after retirement.  She cherished her  position as secretary at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Julia  was reared in a loving Christian family.  She gave her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age.  Julia  served her church in many capacities.  She was proud of founding the Psalm 150 liturgical dance troupe, proud to be a delegate to the General Conference, proud to service as a Missionary in various offices.  She united with Coppin Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church but returned home to Bethel in her later years.  Most of all she was proud to be a Child of God.

Julia left a legacy of love to everyone she knew and met through the years.  She was affectionately known as “Auntie Judy” by so many. She had a zest for life and  enjoyed traveling and trying new things.  Her sense of humor couldn’t be matched.

Julia’s happiest years were spent loving and nurturing her daughter Valerie.  If you saw one of them, the other was not far behind.  They shared laughter and love until her final days.

Julia’s greatest joy was in the Lord Jesus Christ. Julia joined him on August 26, 2020 at the age of 72.

Julia leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Valerie L. Chambliss; brother, LeRoy White (Tondra); aunt, Louise Keaton; nephew, Donnell White (Mercy); Nieces, Alicia White, Carla White, Delores Vaughn (Tim) and a host of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, church family and many, many friends.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee:

he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 55:22

I shared many experiences with Julia at Shortridge High School, and recently spent time with her at the time of our 50 year class reunion. She was a talented, intelligent, kind, wise and gentle person. She will be missed and will often be thought of lovingly. I know that her family was extremely important to her, and I know your family is greatly saddened by her passing.
