George Albert Grisby, A.KA. Big Man went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2020. He was born on May 16, 1956 in Indianapolis, IN to the late George Will and Mayme Elizabeth Grisby.
When he was a young boy, Big Man would spend his summers on the farm with his grandparents in Perryville, KY where he loved playing in the creek and fishing out crawdads. He attended Cole Springs School and School #44 as a young adult.
He worked for Wesson Electric for a number of years, a chicken plant in Elmont, AL and spent some time working as a janitor for The Children’s Museum in Indianapolis, IN.
Big Man had a lot of Love for his Westside 2G community and his community had a lot of Love for him. In 2014 he also went to live with his sister in McCorsdville, IN where he would often do odd jobs for people in the neighborhood like cleaning, helping out in the barbershop, yard work and running errands.
His love for all things hog is really what made him one of a kind. From pig feet to chitterlings and hog maws, it wasn’t too many parts of the pig that Big Man didn’t like to eat. If you showed up to visit with one of his favorites or a box of hot fried chicken and a cold pop you were a friend for life!
Big Man was known on all sides of the city from North, east south and of course west; he never met a stranger. He sugar-coated nothing and knew more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. He was always bringing Joy and Laughter to the lives of everyone around him. He will be missed and his life will be cherished forever by all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Grisby; sister, Brenda Taylor and mother, Mayme E. Grisby.
George will lovingly be remembered by his sister, Christine (Aaron) Hunt; brothers, William Grisby and Steven Grisby. George will also forever be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Humbly Submitted………The Family
