Oliver “Poncho” Nichols, Jr. was born October 3, 1955 to Oliver Nichols, Sr. and Susie Mae Nichols in Indianapolis, Indiana.


Oliver attended Elementary School #44 and Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, after which he server four years in the United States Army receiving his Honorable Discharge. He was employed for Amtrak and also Carrier.


Oliver professed a hope in Christ at an early at First Samuel Baptist Church. His favorite pastimes were cooking out, playing horseshoes and spending time with his family and friends. “Poncho”, as he was known by family and friends, knew no strangers and was always willing to share with those in need. He was a loving and devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews. “Poncho” loved his community and neighborhood and was loved by many.


“Poncho”  went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the age of sixty-three years old. He was preceded in death his mother, Susie Nichols; father, Oliver Nichols, Sr.; grandmother, Hattie Bass; brother, Charles E. Brown; and sister, Mary E. “Baby Doll” Sims.


“Poncho”  leaves to cherish his memories his sisters, Barbara Williams (Carl), Sharon Kay Miller (Joseph), and Lisa Nichols of Memphis, Tennessee; sister-in-law Paulette Brown; best friend, Al Cannon, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
