To The Crawford Family:
Our sincere sympathies during this time of sorrow and may the Good Lord comfort you. I am ever thankful that Bill and I worked many years for the continuous of Diversity and Inclusion within the casino industry in the State of Indiana. The doors of opportunities would not have been opened if Bill Crawford has not stayed the course ensuring that businesses of color would be at the table and included.
We are indeed blessed for knowing and working with such an outstanding man of purpose and extraordinary vision.

For the last few days, I've been debating on the words to say and express towards one of Indianapolis' House of Representative leaders I came to know and admire. I first met Bill Crawford in 1986, when I become active within politics on the local level within Center and Warren Townships in Marion County. It was through him that I learned more about the concerns within the townships of Marion County; and more importantly, it was because of his efforts towards those parts of Marion County that he was one person that wasn't a politician, but a leader in my eyes. As I've seen the City of Indianapolis become a great city, it's because of his efforts many of the achievements and successes have occurred. The City of Indianapolis and the State of Indiana will surely miss the leadership this man has shown and brought in making the lives of many more meaningful. One of the most important things he taught me, "you have to always communicate with those that elect you," and he made sure that he wanted an answer to the our concerns. He will always be remembered by me, as one of the first elected officials who always wanted an opinion and wanted to know how legislation would impact not only the precinct but what I personally thought of an idea. He is one of a few leaders within the world politics I enjoyed conversations with and enjoyed in policy development. I'll miss my friend - even though we're in different political parties - I'll remember the importance he made to my life and am thankful for the times we shared. - Richard McCullough (Republican) Precinct Committeeman Center Township 28/16, 28/13, Warren 1 Precinct 1, (1986-2012).

United Way of Central Indiana joins the Crawford family and the entire community in mourning the passing of the Honorable State Representative Bill Crawford. Representative Crawford devoted his entire legislative career to championing many of the core issues that United Way exists to address: lifting people out of poverty toward self sufficiency by making sure that their basic needs are met and, increasing access to vital resources in education, income and health. His leadership and advocacy are memorable and enduring legacies.
