Mr. Duane Wilcoxson, the beloved son of Wilma Wilcoxson and John W. Perkins was born on July 12, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Duane professed his hope in Christ at an early age.   Duane received his primary and secondary education at Harshman Jr. High and Arsenal Technical High School.

Duane joined the United States Army on September 6, 1966. He was an honorably discharged veteran.  He was acknowledged for his duties by receiving a National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars, Combat Infantry Badge and Marksman (rifle).

Duane was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Simmons on September 16, 1967 and from this union four children were born.

Duane retired from Rexnord Link Belt as a machine operator on September 1, 1997 after twenty-eight years of employment.

Duane was a loving father, grandfather, and a father figure to many.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends; he also loved dancing and listening to music especially old school rhythm and blues.  Duane had a way with words if you said, or did anything that was not of his characteristic his response would be “is you crazy” or “is you silly” chump!  Duane had a listening ear, he was outspoken, he voiced his opinion, and right was right and wrong was wrong.

Duane Wilcoxson left this earthly life to be in the presence of the Lord on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Wilma L. Perkins; grandchildren, William D. Wilxocson, Dawn, Donni and Latoria Richardson; brothers, Darrell Perkins, Jesse and Richard Croney.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Duane Jr. (Lisa); daughters, Delisa Wilcoxson, Denice Wilcoxson Emerson, LaVonne Moorman, Detra Boyd (Leon) Patricia Breaziel and Djawana Wilcoxson; sisters, Fostina Summers, Pamela Woods, Laverne Perkins, Shirley Croney-Gibson, Joyce Simmons and Ruby Richardson; brothers, Paul Summers, Gerald, Lamont, John Jr., and William Perkins, George Croney and Michael Howard; twenty-one grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
