Yvonne “Billy” Elmore, age 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on December 13, 2025.
Yvonne was born on April 4, 1941, in Elmont, Alabama, to Bessie Morris and Dewy Morris. She graduated from Trinity High School in Alabama and later moved to Indianapolis in 1960, where she built a full and meaningful life surrounded by family and friends.
Affectionately known as “Billy,” Yvonne was a woman of warmth, strength, and deep love for her family. She found joy in shopping at Goodwill, listening to music—especially the blues—cooking, cleaning, and spending cherished time with those she loved most. Her home and heart were always open, and her presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of togetherness to everyone around her.
Yvonne is survived by her sisters, Marvolean Alexander and Carolyn Morris; her children, Imogene Elmore, Rose Elmore, Ramsey L. Elmore, Cynthia Jude, Derrick Elmore, and Dana Howard; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Morris and Dewy Morris; her sisters, Maryann Posley, Mattie Moore, and Margie Williams; her brothers, Charles Morris, James Thomas and Willie Morris Jr.; and her beloved son, Glenn Elmore.
Yvonne “Billy” Elmore will be lovingly remembered for her nurturing spirit, her love of music, and the way she brought family together. Her legacy lives on through the many generations she touched with her love, care, and unwavering presence.
