William “Billy” Sams
June 3, 1940 – September 24, 2025
William “Billy” Sams, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Billy transitioned from this life to eternal life at the age of 85. He will be remembered for his kind heart, steady spirit, and love for both people and life’s simple joys.
Educated in the Indianapolis Public School system, Billy graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. He began his career as a dependable employee in an ice cream factory and later joined Ford Motor Company, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.
A man of many talents, Billy was a skilled mechanic and lifelong lover of automobiles. He also had a deep affection for animals, finding joy and companionship in caring for them throughout his life.
Billy accepted Christ at an early age and remained a devoted member of his church, living out his faith through kindness, generosity, and service to others. Those who knew him best will remember his gentle demeanor, caring nature, and warm smile.
He enjoyed traveling, dining out, and spending time with loved ones, especially his nephews and nieces, who brought him great joy.
Billy was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Sams; father, James D. Sams Sr.; sisters, Roberta Sams, Gertrude Sams, and Carol Sams-Hunter; and brothers, Charles Sams, Carl Sams, James Sams, and Arthur Sams.
Billy’s life was one of quiet strength, devotion, and compassion. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who knew and loved him.
