We’re here today to celebrate the life of our brother, uncle, and friend, William Kirby, but to us, he was just “Billy”. Losing him is tough, but instead of focusing on the pain, we choose to remember the love, laughter, and good times he brought into all our lives.
Billy was born on August 21, 1967, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Arlene Marie and William Allen Kirby. He was the second oldest of seven kids: Angela Anthony, Mane Kirby, Steve Kirby, Pam Kirby, Jerrick Kirby, and Hope Kirby. He loved his family strongly, and if you knew Billy, you knew family meant everything to him.
From a young age, Billy had hustle. He started out selling candy door to door, and as he got older, he put that same energy into his jobs. He worked at 7-Eleven grocery store, which later became Double 8, for 15 years until they shut down, and then he started at Preston Safeway. He was reliable, hardworking, and loved his job, always finding ways to help a customer and his team members.
Billy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he carried that faith in his heart every day. But what made Billy truly special was the way he brought family together. He loved music, food, and most of all, spending time with his brothers and sisters. Whether it was a cookout, a party, or just hanging out, Billy was happy when he was surrounded by the people he loved—dancing, laughing, and living life to the fullest
He leaves behind his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a whole lot of people who will miss him dearly. Billy, you were one of a kind. We’ll hold onto the memories and never forget the way you made life a little brighter for all of us.
