Wanda J. Harley passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023. Wanda was born on February 4, 1939. The second daughter of Ina Estella Alcorn. She moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1960, where she began working at as it was then known, General Hospital. She graduated from George Washington High School.
On January 19, 1970, she was united in Holy Matrimony to William J. Harley. They remained married until his passing on November 12, 1986.
Wanda was employed at Kohl's Department Store. At Kohl's, she served as the Jewelry Department Manager for 25 years until her retirement. While working there she made several friends who remained friends with her until this very day.
A devout Christian, Wanda was a member of New Light Christian Church, where Pastor Michael Scaife was the Senior Pastor.
Mrs. Harley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, great-grandmother and auntie whose pleasant manner endeared her to all with whom she came in contact. She was admired and respected by her family, and friends from all walks of life.
Wanda took pride in her NAO Porcelain figurines collection, and she passed on this pride to her children. She was very fond of her grandchildren and stated on many occasions that it was her duty to discipline and spoil them.
Wanda departed this life on August 23, 2023, at the age of eighty-four years eight months and nineteen days. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Freeman Frank Alcorn, Dan Curtis “DC” Alcorn, Sr., Charles "Red" Alcorn, Cora Stella "Madea" Alcorn, Allen Winfred "Jeff" Alcorn, and Claude Walter "Pete" Roberts, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Michael W. Butchee and Brian K. Butchee; grandsons, David Butchee-Crawford, and Brian W. Butchee; granddaughters, Brea A. Butchee and Danielle M. Butchee; great– grandson, Kyren K. Butchee; nieces and nephews, Theresa Alcorn, Beverly A. Thomas, Claude W. Roberts, Jr., and Bobby T. Roberts; daughters-in law, Denise M. Butchee and Kay L. Butchee, and a host of other relatives and many friends.
