TAWANA ANN THOMPSON

Elder Tawana Ragland Thompson, affectionately known as “TT,” was born on November 1, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Carolyn A. Ragland and the late John W. Ragland. Throughout her life, TT exemplified faith, service, love, and compassion. She touched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her family, church, and community.

TT attended Northwest High School in Indianapolis, where she proudly graduated. Determined to further her education, she enrolled at Indiana Business College and    successfully earned her degree. Throughout her life, she was a hardworking and dedicated individual who believed in serving others. She retired from McFarland Foods after many years of faithful employment but later returned to the workforce at First Call Residential Living. There, she continued her passion for helping others and became affectionately known as “Momma T” by many of her clients, with whom she shared special and meaningful bonds.

was at the center of TT’s heart. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her loved ones and her church family. She was known for her generous spirit and willingness to help anyone in need, whether through prayer, preparing a warm meal, offering encouragement, or simply lending a listening ear. TT was an exceptional cook whose meals brought family and friends together. She also enjoyed traveling and making lasting memories with her beloved group, “The Golden Girls.”

One of TT’s greatest acts of love and devotion was the care she provided to her mother, Carolyn Ragland. She faithfully and selflessly cared for her mother with unwavering dedication, ensuring she was supported, comforted, and loved. Her commitment to family was evident in everything she did, and she never hesitated to place the needs of her loved ones before her own. This devotion reflected the compassionate heart that defined her life.

At the age of 33, TT accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Church of God M.P.G. of T under the leadership of the late Apostle Sylvia J. Toney. She faithfully served in many capacities within the church, participating in cake walks, rummage sales, prayer ministries, and numerous other activities that strengthened the church community. Later, she transitioned to New Life Community Church of Truth, where she continued her spiritual growth and dedication to ministry. In 2000, she was ordained as a Teacher and faithfully carried out her calling. Continuing her journey with Christ, TT became a member of New Life Generation Church under the leadership of Pastor Crystal Murray, where she was ordained as an Elder in 2025. Her unwavering faith and commitment to God remained evident throughout her life.

On June 14, 2026, at the age of 66, TT peacefully answered the Master's call and entered eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Ragland; her beloved daughter, La’Chelle Hall-Wilson; her son, John Hall Jr.; her brothers, Anthony Ragland and Dujaun Ragland; her sister, Karen Ragland; and her grandparents, Anna Lue and Dallas Ragland, and Mary and Ruben Bailey.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted daughter, Tiara Johnson; son-in-law, David  Wilson (La’Chelle); two grandsons, Ajon Hall and Jayden Cummings; her loving mother, Carolyn Ragland; brothers, John (Derek) Ragland, Marcus Ragland, and Joel Ragland; sister, Stephanie Ragland-Coleman; special friend, Alesia Burke; her fur baby, Poochie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her love, wisdom, and unwavering faith.

TT’s life was a testament to service, compassion, faith, and family. Whether caring for her mother, supporting her children and grandchildren, serving her church, or helping those in need, she lived a life devoted to others. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
