SUSIE MAE ROBINSON, daughter of the late Grady and Perry (Morman) Williams was born September 24, 1929 in Rossville, Tennessee. She was the oldest born among eight siblings.
Susie was united in marriage to the late Robert Lee Robinson on June 30, 1958. Susie and Robert lived in Rossville, Tennessee and were blessed to share 54 years of marriage until his death on August 22, 2012.
Susie later moved back to Indianapolis in 2012 to be close to her daughters. She worked as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for over 20 years at Winona Hospital until she retired.
Susie found joy in the simple blessings of life. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, and watching her favorite television shows Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey and Everybody Loves Raymond. She also loved listening to blues music, eating her favorite soul food, and welcoming the company of her family who regularly stopped by to visit, share stories, and enjoy one another’s presence, and especially during the holidays. These moments of fellowship and laughter reflected her warm spirit and the love she had for those around her.
Susie knew the Lord, she was baptized at an early age in Rossville, Tennessee. She was a faithful and dedicated member of New Stinson Community Church when she resided in Rossville, Tennessee and was a member of the choir. Her most recent church membership was at Zion Hope Church where she served faithfully as a missionary and Mother of the church until her health failed. Susie received a Certificate of Recognition in 2016 as a Silver Saint.
Susie entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 96 years. Her parents; husband; two sons, Walder Thomas and Vernon Thomas; daughter, Virginia Carter; siblings, Carrie Crawford, Annie Gooden, Howard Richard, and Harry Richard, all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Jamila Cheesebourough, Lillian Thomas, Marie Antionette VanHorn (Peter) of Salt Lake City, Utah and Kathy Jean Jones; thirty-five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; thirty-one great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Truesdale, Laura Brown both of Memphis, Tennessee and Maggie Ingram of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Although Susie is no longer with us, her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in our hearts forever.
