SUSAN JOHNSON Obituary

Susan “Renee” Johnson was born on May 5, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late James Edward and Emma Frances Johnson. Affectionately called by her middle name “Renee” Renee professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, and was a faithful member of Barnes United Methodist Church, and enjoyed coming to the feeding ministry greeting the guest.

Renee attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from John Marshall High School where she excelled in softball. She was coached by her mother and Mr. Leroy Leach at an early age while attending Forest Manor school at John Marshall High School, she played short stop and third base, her nickname was “Bullet” no one was able to get a ball past her or get on base when she was up to bat. Renee also played softball on several traveling teams and leagues. Being an avid athlete, Renee developed a love for the art of karate. Her skill was so well developed that her hands were registered as a lethal weapon. Additionally, Renee had the opportunity to spar with Chuck Norris to obtain her “Black Belt”.

Renee worked at American Village Capitol Nursing Home. She then worked as an assembler at Stewart Warner until it closed, shortly after she retired due to her “MS” disability however Renee had an infectious smile, big dimples and everyone would say that she brought life to every gathering.

Susan Renee Johnson went home to be with the Lord on April 11, 2025, at 5:41 a.m. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted son, Davon Marquise and her beautiful granddaughter, Sevyn Amore Renee; sisters, Sheila Johnson Penn, Latonya Johnson; brothers, Robert L. Johnson (Christy), and James E. Johnson (Debra). She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lance Cpl. Ralph E. Johnson, Additionally, she leaves a special friend, Karla Austin, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
