A Brief Sketch of Life
Ruth L. Golden was born on September 20, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Classid Edwards. Ruth was the third of seven brothers and sisters.
Ruth confessed her hope in Jesus Christ at an early age. She loved the Lord and served him faithfully. She dedicated her time and talents to the church serving in many capacities; St. Rita Choir, Sister-to-Sister Committee, Liturgical Dance Ministry, Usher Board-VP, Fish Fry Committee, St. Vincent de Paul, and caring for the needs of the Pastoral Residence.
Ruth was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother and Friend. She had a good sense of humor and often made us laugh. She was definitely the funny and amusing one in the family! Ruth loved all her family and friends very much! She loved her kids with a passion and each in their own special way. The joy she brought when surrounded by her family and church family with love and laughter was truly amazing. She walked with a mother’s love that extended out past the walls of her home and reached anyone she encountered. She continued to walk by faith and held with her the love of Jesus Christ. Ruth L. Golden was a woman with unconditional love for all! She genuinely loved her husband, Jonas L. Golden, Sr., who departed this life at an early age of forty-four years on February 7, 1992. Ruth has longed to see him, her Mom and Dad (John and Classid Edwards), and several other family members including her two eldest sons who had already departed this earth.
Ruth departed this life on August 31, 2023. Preceding her in death was her parents, John and Classid Edwards; husband, Jonas L. Golden, Sr.; sisters, Laverne Edwards and Angelia Brown; brothers, Jim C. Edwards, Sr. and James H. Edwards; sons, Phillip C. Toombs, Keith T. Toombs; grandsons, Lacey L. Jones, Jr., Christopher Lamonte` Toombs, and Phillip Watkins.
