Roy Smith, born January 2, 1933, in Columbus, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on September 8, 2023. He was the beloved son of Annie Lou Butler and Jim Smith. Roy was proud to have called Columbus his home throughout his life. In his early years in Mississippi, Roy became a father to two children, Ricky and Jane, while building a strong foundation for his family's future. 

On July 21, 1967, Roy married the love of his life, Dorothy. Their union was blessed with three children: Roy Jr., Michelle, and Victor. Roy also welcomed two stepchildren into his heart, Kimberley and Tina, forging strong bonds within their blended family. Roy dedicated his working years to Smock Fansler, retiring with honor.

His commitment to faith was unwavering, as he regularly attended church services, finding solace and strength in his spiritual community. Roy's love for his family knew no bounds, and he had an infectious sense of humor, always ready to share a laugh or a joke. He spent countless years emphasizing the importance of education to his children, all while being renowned for his candid and honest nature, often delivering his thoughts with a hearty laugh. 

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, his devoted children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends. He will forever be cherished in our hearts, his memory a testament to a life well-lived. In this time of grief, we remember Roy with love and gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives. May he rest in eternal peace.
