Rosalind Carol Jones was born on April 2, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Velma Canady-Jones and lovingly raised by her parents, Maurice and Velma Ree Jones.
Affectionately known as Carol by her family and friends, she was educated in the Indianapolis Public School System and graduated from Broad Ripple High School. She later enrolled at Indiana University, where she remained a student for two years.
Carol was raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord and was baptized at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. In her own words, she expressed that life meant “love, family, and most of all her love for and belief in God and His laws and what He had given her down through the years. She acknowledged God as her leader, loved to see how He worked, and marveled at His blessings.”
During her working years, Carol served faithfully in Environmental Services at Wishard Hospital and various other jobs. Her greatest joy, however, was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her heart overflowed with unconditional love for her children, and she found her greatest fulfillment in being present in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing the blessing of watching them grow.
A devoted fan of the artist Prince, Carol also found joy in the CB Radio world, where she was a member of Princess of West and D-10 C.Ber’s. She gave generously of her time and resources to various charities, supported her community, and proudly served in both of President Barack Obama’s election campaigns.
She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren, dining out with family, preparing Easter baskets, hosting Easter egg hunts, and celebrating Christmas with her loved ones. Carol also enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, writing, reading, and studying Black History.
On Saturday, August 16, 2025 Rosalind Carol Jones was discharged from Methodist Hospital to her home on earth and departed to go home to be with the Lord at the age of seventy-two. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Roy Jones, Donald Jones, Tony Jones, and Mauriceline Jones.
Left to cherish her life and legacy are her children, Angelicque (Armound), Wayne and Anthony Jones; siblings, James Lyles (Terri), Joanne Taylor, Maurice Jones, Gregory Jones, and Mal Jones (Carolyn); eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; cousins, Bruce Canady and Daryl Black; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her CB family and friends.
