ROSA FOOTMAN Obituary

Rosa Lee Laster Footman, the daughter of the late William Laster and Isabel Edwards Tisdale, was born on May 25, 1944, in North Charleston, South Carolina. She was the eldest of nine children.

Rosa was united in marriage to the late Samuel E Footman on May 14, 1963, until his passing on November 2, 2015.  To this union, four children were born (Edward, Kenneth, Timothy and Pamela). She was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth L. Footman.

Rosa attended Bethune Elementary School and graduated from Bond Wilson High School in Charleston, South Carolina.  She met her future husband in high school.

Rosa, along with her husband and immediate family, relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1966.

Rosa was employed at Indiana University Medical Center, and then she worked for several years at Von Duprin until she retired.  After retirement, Rosa volunteered for several years in the daycare ministry at Christ Temple Apostolic Church.

Rosa accepted Christ in her life at the age of 14 years, and she was baptized at Oak Grove Baptist Church in South Carolina. She was actively singing in the choir ministry.  After marriage, she became a member of Indiana Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She continued singing in the choir.  In 1980’s, Rosa became a member of Calvary Temple, where she was actively involved in the Prayer Tower Team Ministry. In 1990’s, Rosa became a member of Eastern Star Church, where she and her husband were active leaders of the marriage couple home ministries.  She also was a Greeter at the church.

Rosa was a devoted wife and mother.  She was loving, patient and kind. She passed on a gentle spirit with her warm smile.  Rosa had excellent listening skills and would share life lessons that would bless people.  This gift of counseling was truly her ministry.  When she was not counseling, she enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting for family and other people.

Rosa Lee Laster Footman transitioned from this life on January 20, 2023, to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of seventy-eight years.  Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Edward J. (Vanessa) Footman, Timothy W. Footman and Robert E. Rivers; daughter, Pamela K Footman; grandchildren, Adriyan Scipio, William Scipio, Christopher Footman, Timothy Footman, Jr, Tiffani Footman, Benjamin Footman, Hunter Footman, Kenneth Footman, Jr, and Kyle Footman; great-granddaughter, Destani Footman and several other great-grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne (Michael) Tisdale Day, Pat Tisdale, Deborah T. Williams, Carrie Tisdale Barnes; brothers, Friday (Patrice) Tisdale, Donald (Aileen) Tisdale, James E.
