Ronald Lee Gray was born on December 11, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa. He went to East High School in Des Moines and studied at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He was a good athlete, even attending Cubs tryout camp in July of 1950. As a musician, he played alto sax and often joined the band at his father’s Sepia Club in Des Moines.
Ronald moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1963 to marry Jean Smith. Their union spanned the years and they were blessed with the births of three. He began work at Indiana Bell in 1965, eventually moving to New Jersey to work at AT&T where he retired in 1992. Ronald moved back to Indiana in 2001.
Ronald and his wife were member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Carmel.
On Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of eighty-three years nine months and twenty-eight days, Ronald left this world to be with the Lord.
Ronald Lee Gray leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Jean Smith Gray; daughter, Jennifer (Derrick) Eley and twins, Kristen Sharma and Christopher Gray; two grandchildren, Sejal Sharma and Kiran Sharma; sister, Dyanne Looper; sisters-in-law, Frances Goldberg and Margaret Francis, a host of nieces, and nephews, cousins, and friends.
