RODNEY SANDERS

Rodney Sanders was born on February 15, 1953, to Richard Sanders and Beatrice Sanders Chavis. He was a proud graduate of Wood High School.  He went on to dedicate many years of service as a supervisor with the Department of Public Works.

Rodney was a founding member of New Covenant Baptist Church.  There, his faith and commitment to community were evident throughout his life.

He was known as one of the most kind-hearted people to all who knew him. Rodney found great joy in cooking with his nieces and his great-niece and great-nephew, lovingly teaching them recipes that they will cherish forever. He had a deep appreciation for family history and took pride in making sure his loved ones knew where we came from. In his quiet moments, he enjoyed listening to audiobooks and classic old-school music on Alexa.

Rodney Sanders departed this life on December 19, 2025, at the age of seventy-two years ten months and five days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sanders and Beatrice Sanders Chavis, and his siblings, Richard Sanders, Jr. and Dennis Sanders.

He leaves to cherish his memory his three daughters, Michelle Sanders Moor, Moronda Gage, and Marcia Owsley; his siblings, Sharon Bullock (Mark), and Kim Owens, Darryl Sanders of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; his loving nieces, Brittney Owens, Brandi Owens-Scott, Shirley Sanders, Candace White, Courtney White, Casey Gurley, Makita Sanders, and Nicole Sanders; one nephew, Kenneth Williams; along with a host of grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews, many other relatives, and a host dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
