ROBERT GLASCO Obituary

Robert Lewis Glasco, Jr. was born on October 31, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert Glascoe Sr., and Evelyn (Tucker) Glascoe.

Robert attended elementary school in Skeleton, West Virginia until his family relocation to Indianapolis, Indiana.  At which time, Robert attended I.P.S #32.

Robert loved to play practical jokes on his siblings.  Like the time he acted as if he was having a seizure, provoking his sibling to go and alert their father only to find Robert laughing, because he fooled them into believing he was really having a seizure.

Robert married the love of his life, Elizabeth Mary, who preceded him in death. They were married for 62 years.  Robert loved to keep a smile on her face. Robert was a wonderful provider for his family.

At the tender age of 15 Robert dropped out of school, and started working for Dow Chemical Company as a janitor. After 11 years on the job, Dow Chemical sent     Robert to school, and he was promoted to the position of Electronic Technician.  After 40 years working for Dow Chemical Company Robert retired at age 55.  But, anyone who knows Robert knew he was not going to just sit around, and do nothing.  So he worked for Shell gas station located at 29th  & Capital Ave for 15 years, and thereafter for a local laundromat.  Robert worked until his health didn’t allow him to do so.

Robert enjoyed all of the holidays.  It was a time to rest, but more importantly a time for the family to come together.  He enjoyed barbecuing in the summer months and the sweet aroma in the house during, Thanksgiving and Christmas, in the fall and winter months. Many of the children remember when their father would bring home a rooster, a goose, a turkey, or a chicken, and feed it for a few weeks in the basement, or until it was time to wring its neck, place it is a large pot of boiling water, and pluck it.  Robert always made the holidays special.

Robert was a great family man. He loved his children. He was a disciplinarian; who understood the value of not sparing the rod, and spoiling the child. He enjoyed taking his children fishing when they were young, and spending quality time with the family, when he was not working.

Mr. Robert Lewis Glasco, Jr. made a peaceful transition from earth to heaven on May 13, 2022 at age 85. Mr. Robert Lewis Glasco was also preceded in death by his Daughter; Lavetta Glasco, Sisters; Delois Evans, Emily Boatright, and Brothers; Laverne Glascoe, and Charles Michael Glascoe

Robert leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Angalene (Jerry) Young, and Renita Glasco; sons, Gilbert Bush, Quinton Glascoe, Anthony Glascoe, Jeffery Glasco, and Gonzales Glasco; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, siblings; Carol Lee Glascoe, Kathiren Unseld, Sharon Glascoe, Ricky Glascoe, Rhonda Glascoe, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
