A Brief Sketch of Her Life
Richard E. Alvies was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 20, 1951.
Richard completed his primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School System. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. He graduated from Indiana Barber College in 1992, and later graduated form the Skill Center as a Machinist.
Richard was an avid golfer who walked everyday for exercise. He was also known as the dancing machine. He collected miniature antique cars, golf memorabilia and sail boats. Richard was always dressed and very immaculately attired. He also played the bongo drums.
Richard was a loving, caring, and generous man. Every time he saw his son he gave him something to take home for memory.
Richard E. Alvies passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of seventy-three years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giles, Sr. and JoAnn Alivies; brothers, Giles, Jr. and John Alvies; his son, Maurice; and grandson, Marquise.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory his son, Richard DeMar; four grandchildren, Elishea Alvies, Maurice Norris, William Alvies, and Regina Person; sisters, Betty Joe Spyrupulas (John), Ella Beck, Fannie Ricketts, Sandra Alvies-Haley, Terri Glover (Michael), Bonita Alvies-Harris, and Karen Hill (Richard); and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
