Earl Lawrence “Cuz” Murphy, age 77, passed away on December 30, 2025. Born on February 4, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Earl was a lifelong resident who was well known for his vibrant personality and impeccable sense of style.
A man who gained his wisdom through the "school of hard knocks," Earl was a dedicated worker who retired after more than 20 years of service with the Marion County Public Health Department. Beyond his professional life, he was a pillar of his spiritual community, serving as a deacon at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church.
“Cuz” was happiest when he was surrounded by friends, watching sports of all kinds, and ensuring he was always "dressed to impress." Above all, he loved his family to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl O. Murphy and Marjorie J. Murphy, and his brother, Emerson Murphy.
He leaves behind a large and loving family to cherish his memory, including his children: Earl L. Murphy Jr., Paris F. Murphy, Nicole M. Murphy, Brien K. Murphy, JNai Murphy, and JDai Murphy. He is also survived by his sisters: Lynn “Cookie” Murphy, Ingram M. Wakulchik, and Kim R. Clark (Tony); as well as a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
