Patricia Ann Elkins Horvath, the eldest daughter born to the union of Johnny Elkins and Elease (Sanders) Elkins. She was born in Gary, Indiana on March 3, 1948.
Affectionately known as “Pat” by her siblings and loved ones, she attended the renowned and historic Gary Roosevelt High School, graduating with the Class of 1966. She further continued her education by attending Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
Following college, Pat embarked upon a career with The United States Steel Corporation. Having sustained over thirty years of employment, she retired as an administrative assistant.
It was also during her years at United Steel that she met Stanley V. Horvath. Pat and Stanley were joined in marriage on October 13, 1977.
From an early age, Patricia played a crucial role in the upbringing of her siblings. She assumed her parents' expectations early on, always willing to sacrifice herself to make certain the family came first. In 1980, she gave birth to her only child, Stanley, Jr., better known as “Little Stauch” who became the focal point of her life.
Patricia Ann Elkins Horvath departed this life June 12, 2025, at the age of seventy-seven years three months and ten days. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Stanley Horvath, Sr., as well as her parents, and brothers, John, George, and Vernon.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Stanley (DeCarla) Horvath, Jr., of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters, Valda Elkins Butt of Shorewood, Illinois, and Annie “Anna” (Gusta) Ballard of Merrillville, Indiana; brother, Garthell (Gail) Elkins of Blythewood, South Carolina; grandchildren, Deon Jones, Stanley Vincent Horvath, III, Vincent, and Tyler Horvath, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
