PASTOR TORRANCE DUNN Obituary

Our dearly beloved Pastor Torrance D. Dunn of Westfield, Indiana, passed away on May 13, 2022, unexpectedly at his home. God has now called him to the Promised Land, for his journey here on earth is complete.    Pastor Dunn was a man who loved the people, he was a Pastor that served the people until the end. He will be greatly missed.

Torrance was born May 12, 1955, to parents Lorraine (Dunn) Hobbs and George Lewis, of Elkhart, Indiana. He graduated from Concord High School. After high school he worked for several cabinetry companies in Elkhart and Indianapolis. Sims Cabinets was the last company he worked for prior to becoming self-employed and owner of T. T. & Son Home Remodeling for twenty-eight years. After retiring from his business in 2021, he became lead instructor at New Life Development Ministries, where he taught young men general construction skills to use to obtain future employment.

Having professed a belief in Christ and been baptized and ordained, in his mid-twenties and thirties Torrance was a minister at Cathedral of Praise Bibleway, under the leadership of Bishop Edgar Allen. Jr.  When Bishop Allen released minister Bruce Farr to start his pastoralship at Overcoming Church, the Dunn family also went and helped build the ministry from the ground level. After serving under the leadership of Pastor Bruce Farr, Torrance was called into pastoralship and started Foundation of Truth Worship Center, in April of 2002. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the church’s existence.

Torrance met his wife, Debbie Bluitt, at her best friend’s house in 1979, they later wed on July 18, 1981. They shared 40 years of marriage together as friends, co-pastors, and business owners. They liked to travel together and loved one another greatly. Torrance was our taxi driver on family trips and loved to bar-be-que for his family. He was a family-oriented person who loved his wife, kids, and grandchildren. Last, but not lease, Pastor Dunn loved his home teams the Indianapolis Colts and Indianapolis Pacers.

Pastor Torrance Dunn was preceded in death by his father, George Lewis; parents-in-law John (Betty) Cartwright; spiritual parents, Damon (mother) Robbins; uncle, Elder Lester (Bertha) Barnes, and   brothers, Steve Dunn and Harold Hobbs.

Pastor Dunn leaves to cherish his memories wife, Debbie Dunn;    mother, Lorriane Hobbs; children, Latosha Jackson, Taurus Dunn, and Mairus (Ashley) Halliburton; grandchildren, Maria Jackson, Xavier Peterson, Arianna Dunn, Kayla Dunn, Teairra Dunn and  Bryce Dunn; great-grandchildren, Sarenity Jackson and Daquann Stewart, Jr; sisters, Valerie Dunn, Harriett Hobbs, Neco Beasley, and  Vickie (Steve) Green; brothers; Harry Hobbs, Jr., Dewayne Dunn, and Andrea Dunn; in-laws, Zennester Reed, James Bluitt, Terry (John) Franklin, Harold Cobb, Mary Cobb, Vincent Cobb, and Lorraine (Leroy) Jackson; his best friend,  Charles (Liz) Gray, and a host of pastors, friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, and the Foundation of Truth Worship congregation.

One of Pastor Dunn’s favorite scriptures:

Ecclesiastes 9:11(paraphrased)

-The race is not given to the swift, nor to the strong,

but to them that endures till the end-
