Norma Freeman was born November 11, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Leroy Quarles and Ida Bell Quarles
She received her education at John Hope School #26, and later graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1964.
While in high school Norma worked at a drug store and continued employment after graduating. She went on to work for RCA for many years before starting her career at Nobel Industries, where she worked with the mentally challenged for 44 years, up until her retirement.
Within these times she met, and fell in love with William Roy Freeman, whom she married in 1969. They were married for 44 years until his passing in 2012. Two children resulted from this union. Karriem Freeman and Richard Leroy Freeman. Through their marriage she also acquired two more sons in, William Roy Freeman, Jr. and Joseph Freeman.
Norma and Billy loved traveling and enjoying themselves. She enjoyed going to jazz festivals, cruises, and just enjoying a good day; from just sitting on the porch until the mosquitoes would send her in or simply sitting on the phone talking with her sisters and best friends all night. She loved thrift stores, going threw her junk she got at goodwill, painting her long nails (that she took so much pride in), and going to the Indiana State Fair.
Norma was a loyal member of St. Rita Catholic Church where she displayed her wonderful voice in the choir. She also was a member of Christ The King court of 97, since 1980. She was a member of the liturgical mass choir and loved attending events at church; such as sister to sister, reverse raffles and many more..
She departed April 14,2022 at 76 years of age. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Freeman; parents Leroy and Ida Quarles; brother, James Bell and Bert Quarles; and all of her aunts and uncles.
Norma is survived by her children, Karriem Freeman and Richard Leroy Freeman and his wife Jada Freeman; brother, Leonzo Quarles, sisters, Poly King, Lucy Quarles and Deborah Quarles; special grandchildren, Montrail Rippy, Ericka, Richard Leroy Freeman Jr.; sister-in-law, Marie Saunders; three great-grandchildren; and close niece, Alyssa Saunders “Lisa”.
