Obituary
Mr. Nathaniel Elmore, the son of the late Albert Elmore and Louise Matthews Elmore was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 28, 1934.
Mr. Nathaniel attended Indianapolis Public schools and Crispus Attucks High School. He was employed at the American Legion Headquarters and worked for many years in the healthcare field at Carmel Health Care Facility until his retirement. After his retirement he worked at Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church for few more years until officially retiring.
Mr. Nathaniel professed a hope in Christ at an early age. Nathaniel wanted to rededicate his life to Christ and chose to be baptized again on September 30, 2016, by Bishop Royce Fields at Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 82.
Nate, as he was loving known by his family and friends, loved sitting for hours thinking and listening to his jazz. Nate was a deep thinker and excellent chess player. He loved reading about history, especially African American Heritage. He really enjoyed watching sports and would always call to see what time the games started. He was an avid Colts fan; he loved his Colts! Nate was a sharp dresser and would often be seen wearing one his many hats.
Mr. Nathaniel Elmore left this earthly life, at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 14 days after residing in hospice at Evergreen Crossing in the care of Life’s Journey with his great-great nephew, Jamil Campbell as his chaplain. Nate was a warrior until the end and never complained. Nathaniel was preceded in death by all his siblings: sisters, Anna and Bessie Jane; brothers, Albert, Matthew, Andrew (Honey), Clay, and George(G.B); sons, Kevin, Lance and Brett, and nephews, Antonio, Eric and Dino Elmore Sr.
Mr. Nathaniel Elmore leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Lita Jones (Patrick Sr.) ; sons, Keith Elmore (Judy) and Kimmie Ryle (Kim) and host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
