Mrs. Ollie Ree Harris, the daughter of J. C. Harper and Hattie Bryant was born July 29, 1937, in Sparta, Georgia. She moved to Indiana as a young girl and received her formal education at Indianapolis Public Schools #26 and Arsenal Tech High School.
Ollie was united in Holy Matrimony with Azell Harris, who lovingly called her, “Big Red”, in August of 1956. To their loving union five beautiful children were born.
Ollie was employed for several years as a processor at AFNB (American Fletcher National Bank).
Ollie devoted her life and became a baptized Jehovah’s Witness on July 22, 1972, in Louisville, Kentucky. In Indianapolis, Ollie remained faithful for over fifty years as a member of the Glendale Congregation.
Mrs. Harris’ life centered on her dedication to serving Jehovah and she pioneered several times doing Jehovah’s work. Ollie also worked tirelessly to provide for her family and was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Ganny.”
Ollie loved to shop, cook, and bake. Ollie lived a simple and private life, surrounded by her family with lots of fun and laughter.
Mrs. Ollie Ree Harris passed on Saturday, January 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Azell Harris; mother, Hattie L. Davidson, and a sister, Dessie Ree Germany.
She is survived by her four daughters, Audrey Harris-Hudson (one daughter, three grandchildren), Sharon Harris (three daughters, nine grandchildren), Tammy Harris-Westbrook (Dwayne Westbrook, three sons, two daughters, five grandchildren), and Kathy Harris (one daughter, six grandchildren); son Keith Harris (two daughters, one son, five grandchildren); thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-love, Katherine Harris; cousin, Mattie Saunders, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
