MS. MINNIE HAMILTON VANCE Obituary

Minnie Lee Hamilton Vance was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 28m 1933. She was the eighth child born to Louis Garvin Hamilton and Hattie Mae Ritchie- Hamilton. Minnie accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member throughout her life to Blessed Hope, Western Star and Community Christian Church under the Leadership of the late Pastor Dr. Willie D. Robinson. She attended Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky.

Minnie was married to the late Kirth Nolan Vance Sr. that ended in a divorce. Out of that marriage seven children were born.

Minnie worked at Fort Harrison for over 40 years. She was an active Union member of the of American Federation of Government Employees (AFL-CIO) Local1411. She was a Union Steward, Property Trustee, Chaplain, and Chairman of the Retiree Committee.

She was administrative Assistant for the President/Executive Vice President for more than 20 years after retiring from the US. Army Finance Center.

Minnie started the annual Retiree Luncheon that went on for over 25 years. She created the Lamp of Learning award for children that had major accomplishments.

Minnie worked in the Community. Minnie was also known as  “Mama, Granny, and Mama V” by the kids that grew up around her. She went to nursing homes to visit and would take along her children and any child in the neighbor that wanted to go. She shared her wisdom and knowledge about God to anyone that she would meet.

Minnie started a phone ministry called Lydia house of pray. The women would meet every Sunday via phone and talk about Women of the bible. She was able to continue this ministry until her health started to fail. Minnie was active member of Union Districts Women Auxiliary and she served faithfully.

Minnie Hamilton Vance passed peacefully at her home on April 23,2026. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Hattie Mae Hamilton; Sisters Anna Hamilton Eubabanks, Dorothy Hamilton, Mary Hamitlon Smith, and Hattie Mae Hamitlon-Terrell. Brothers; Charles and Robert Hamilton. Son, Kirth Vance Jr. Grandson, Anthony Graves Jr.

She leaves to cherish six children; Desiree Blue, Karla Vance-Bingham, Angela Vance, Kent Vance, Deborah Vance, and Keith Vance; two, sisters, Betty Burris, and Frances Hamilton-Taylor; 11 grandchildren, Erika Garrett (Walt), Brandon Bingham, Alexis Bingham, India Vance, Deborah Armand, Darren Harris, Anga-leic Harriss, Dominiqui Vance, Sandra Obermeier, Angela Vance, and Heru Vance; 12 great-grandchildren; Joshua Beecher, Jessica Woodard,  Anthony Graves III, Aireol Graves, Micah Waddell, Skylah Harris, Montana Massey, Angalina Massey, Gabriela Harris-Rodriguez, Tyrone Obermeier, Quentin Goelsdorf, and Susan Goelsdorf; 2 great-great-grandchildren; Sydney Callahan-Beecher, and Riley Beecher; and a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and more.
