Marsha L. Scott was born on December 24, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late James A. Pegues and Garnette Thomas-Pegues.
She graduated from Central High School in South Bend, Indiana, and went on to attend Lincoln Business College in Jacksonville, Florida, where she met her husband, Lawrence B. Scott. Together, they were blessed with three beautiful children.
Marsha accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana. After moving to Indianapolis in 1995, she later became a devoted member of Light of the World Christian Church.
She spent many years working with dedication at Teachers Credit Union, where she made history as the first African American branch manager in South Bend. Her leadership, professionalism, and commitment paved the way for others and left an enduring mark on the community.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, James and Garnette Pegues; her former husband, Lawrence B. Scott; her sister, Marilyn Pegues; and her brother, Quitman Slack (Maxine Slack).
She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Michelle Scott of Indianapolis, Lawrence B. Scott Jr. of Indianapolis, and Ryon Scott (Addie) of Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren: Shayla (Jaylen), Ryon (Tierra), Tania, Tevin, Terrionna, Lauren, Aleesa, Kaliyah, Adam, and Jackson; and five great-grandchildren: Jamari, Rylee, Alaina, Tiana, and Lincoln. She is also survived by her sisters Claudia Hendrix (Larry) and Hester Boyd (Charlie), her bonus sister Mary Ann Ray, her brother James A. Pegues Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.
