MS. FLOR TOURNER Obituary

Flor D’Lecia Tourner, 58, received the call to her eternal life on Thursday, August 4, 2022.  She was born the daughter of Doris (Summers) and Gregory A. Tourner in San Antonio, Texas.  At age 6, her father remarried, and Katherine (Fox) Cunningham, known to her and her brother as their loving “Mother”.  Flor spent her childhood living in Bloomington, IN, Anniston, AL and Indianapolis, IN.  In 1982, she graduated from North Central High School where she was a member of the track and field team.  After graduation, Flor attended Jarvis Christian College in Tyler, TX and later Martin University.

Flor accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age and was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Bloomington, IN.  She joined Second Christian Church (now, Light of the World Christian (DOC) Church) as a child where she learned more about God’s love for us.

During her young adult years, Flor lived in Cedar Hill, TX, St. Petersburg, FL and Terre Haute, IN.  She moved back to Indianapolis in 2005.  Flor was a loving mother, daughter and sister who loved people. She always willing to do or give what she had to help anyone in need. Her smile could light up a room.

The most important thing to Flor were her children, grandchildren, family, and close friends.  Flor loved cooking and she worked as an Assistant Manager at the Central Seafood Restaurant until her health began failing.  Over the years, Flor also worked in early childhood educational programs in Indianapolis (True Belief Baptist Church Childcare Ministry) and the Vigo County Schools. Flor was also employed as an Office Manager for S&R Transportation Services, Inc.

Flor overcame many life and health challenges by trusting in the Lord and through the support of her loving family.  Most recently she was recovering from pancreatic cancer when she finished her final race and received a call from the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her triumps her parents and bonus mother, Rhonda (Lomax) Tourner; her children, Erika Brown and Juan Brown, Jr (Kimiko) of DeSoto, TX; Brittany Sirls of Lancaster, TX; D’Lecia Tourner of Ft. Worth, TX; Devan Sirls of Dallas, TX; her siblings, Gregory Tourner II, (Mia); Brian Tourner (Yadira); Kamilah Nichols (Michael) of Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Timothy Grant, Cayden Brown, Dallas Brown, Maverick Brown and Ella Cleveland of Dallas County, TX; Dakari Tourner (Tarrant County, TX); bonus grandchildren Rae’Anna Christian, Ray’Chelle Christian, Rai’Shanti and bonus great-grandson, Kharter Brown of Dallas County, TX. She also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her biological mother Doris S, her bonus dad Rev. Dr. Gerald Cunningham, grandparents, several uncles and aunts.

Flor will truly be missed and by her family and friends, she was deeply loved by all of them. Rest in Power Flor until we see you again!
