Highlights of Sharon’s Life
Sharon Kay Nichols Collier, age 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025. She was born on January 1, 1959, in Indianapolis to the late Susie Mae Nichols and Ernest Mitchell.
Lovingly known as “Kay,” Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, grandmother, and friend. She brought joy and light to everyone who knew her with her big heart and warm, playful spirit.
Kay was educated in the Indianapolis Public School system, beginning at School #44 and later graduating from Northwest High School. She built a strong work ethic early in life and went on to be a dedicated, long-time employee at 3M, where her commitment and loyalty were well known and deeply appreciated.
More than anything, Kay adored her granddaughters and found great joy in spending time with them. She often said they were what kept her going. Known affectionately as “Auntie Kay,” she was the heart of every family gathering—dancing, playing games on her computer or phone, and always lifting the spirits of those around her. Her love for her sons was unwavering; there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Collier Sr.; her parents, Susie May Nichols and Ernest Mitchell; her siblings Mary Sims, Jacque Mitchell, Charles Brown, Oliver Nichols, Terry Nichols, Eric Mitchell; and her nephews, Eric Williams, and Anthony Sims.
Kay leaves behind her two beloved sons, Joseph Collier Jr. and Justin Collier; her grandbabies, Ralayah Glasco and Keilayah Glasco; her cherished sister, Barbara Williams (Carl); siblings, Debra Baker, Kim Craig, Pamela Scruggs, and Brenda Lomax. Kay is also survived by many dear nieces, and nephews and cousins and friends who will miss her deeply.
Sharon’s beautiful spirit, enduring love, and joyful presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
