Genet was born March 24,1944 to the late Mattie Golene McFadden and Foster Langdon in Walnut Grove, Mississippi.
She is the second born of eleven children. She grew up in Mississippi, then Wisconsin before settling in Indiana.
Genet was educated in Mississippi.
Genet accepted Jesus Christ into her life uniting with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She lived his faith through a commitment to her family. She was an active, faithful member supporting the church for a number of years.
Genet was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother “Gigi” to all she loved. She loved her church family, especially her pastor, Pastor Covington. She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and spending time with her family. She was “a sharp dressing Mama” always coordinated from head to toe.”
Genet heard the angels sing and the voice of Jesus calling, telling her it is time to come home and on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the age of eighty-one, she took the Savior’s hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings Lola Ward (Kelley), Bernard McFadden (Marita), Fannie Johnson (Jay).
Genet leaves to cherish her memory her devoted common-law husband Arthur Collier Sr.; daughter Pamela Brim-Felix (Christopher), son Arthur Collier Jr. (Melissa), daughters Venus Collier, and Lakeshia Johnson; seven siblings; ten grandchildren; William “Anthony” Johnson (Kendra), Kylee Hobbs, Uniqueka Collier, Kyeshia Collier, Maizhane’ Collier, Arlena Johnson, Antonio Johnson, Arteze Johnson, Arne’ya Collier, and Artianna Collier; eight great grandchildren: Landen, Kyren, A’Mauri, Kahlani, Eren, Ken, Koa, and Romi with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who adored her.
