The Life of “Roc”
Ricky Walls, “Roc” was born on December 18, 1960, to Hezekiah and Christina Walls. He received his primary and secondary education and graduated from Indianapolis Public Schools.
He worked for the Indianapolis Parks Department and later at St. Vincent New Hope. He retired due to his failing health.
One thing for certain, two things for sure, he truly loved the “Man Upstairs.”
Roc enjoyed fishing, playing cards, buying lottery scratch-offs, and cooking on the grill. He was best known for his oven cooked barbeque chicken wings.
Roc was also known by several other nicknames such as Uncle Levels, Mush Mouth, Center Fold, Rockster, Kahuna, and Baby Boy to name a few. He was endowed with a keen sense of humor like no other. He could come up with names for friends and loved ones out of the clear blue. Names like Big Draws, Blacky, Flat Tire, Cut Neck, Lippy, Countryricans, Buck and Little Bucks.
Roc was the “built-in” babysitter for his nieces, nephews, and the neighborhood kids. He loved children, and it was his joy to help others.
Roc departed this life on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the age of 61 years 4 months and 26 days. He was preceded in death by this father, Hezekiah; mother, Christina; brothers, Gerald and John; and sister, Kathy.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Brittany (Chris) Rogers; sister, Joycelyn (Teddy) Hughley; brother, Tony (Robin) Walls; grandchildren, Ryan, Journee, and Chris, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we love is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled…
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee
