Nelson “Mickey” Wellington Jr., 71, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on March 25, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1954, in Indianapolis to the late Nelson Wellington Sr. and Frances Louise Wellington.
Mickey received his primary and secondary education through the Indianapolis Public School System. He went on to build a dedicated career as a security officer for various companies, where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and quiet strength. He also faithfully served his community for several years as security at Refuge Temple Revival Center.
A beloved figure in his neighborhood, Mickey was known for his love of “oldies but goodies,” his passion for fishing, and his joy in cooking for others. His generous heart and protective spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Wellington Sr. and Frances Louise Wellington.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Nelson Roberts, Lemont Roberts, Katina Roberts, and Simmion Overton; his sibling, Carol Wellington; and nine grandchildren who brought him great pride and joy.
Nelson “Mickey” Wellington Jr. will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
