MR. ERIC LAMAR OWENS, SR.

Mr. Eric Lamar Owens, affectionately known for his joyful spirit and unforgettable smile, was born on October 22, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ernie DeWayne Owens and Ceretha Owens. He departed this earthly life at the age of 47 years old.

In 1986, Eric relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he would grow to become a well-known and beloved presence among family and friends. Eric attended Greater Grace Temple, where he was grounded in faith and fellowship.

Eric was a hardworking and driven man from an early age. At just 19 years old, he and his brother Wayne proudly owned and operated their own janitorial company, demonstrating ambition and determination well beyond his years. By the age of 21, he became a homeowner, another testament to his dedication and work ethic. Eric later went on to dedicate seven years of service as a supervisor at the Honda Automotive Plant, where he earned the respect of many through his leadership and commitment.

Eric was truly the life of the party. His childlike playfulness, infectious laughter, and constant joking could brighten any room he entered. He loved making people smile and enjoyed spending quality time with those he loved most.

In his free time, Eric enjoyed roller skating, gambling on horse races, and listening to music—simple pleasures that brought him happiness and reflected his vibrant personality and love for life.

Eric Lamar Owens, Sr. departed this earthly life on April 30, 2026 at the age of forty-seven years old. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ceretha Owens.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Shanesse Owens; his devoted father, Ernie DeWayne Owens; his children, Eric Lamar Owens Jr., Jalen Owens, and Eriana Owens; his cherished grandchildren, Carter, Charlie, Chase, Jalynn, Carmelo, Cire, and Love Owens; his siblings, Cerena Owens, Ernie DeWayne Owens Jr. (Kelli), and Anais Owens; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Eric’s laughter, love, and unforgettable spirit will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know and love him.
