David Leroy Lockett, was born November 10, 1936, to William and Francis Lockett.
David did profess a hope in Christ at an early age. He completed his primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public School System.
David was a responsible and diligent worker at Wilhelm Construction Company. His job duty was doing cement and driveways. He also so worked construction jobs at the IPS Administration Office. After retiring, he helped people in need with hospital transportation, and other errands such as grocery shopping.
David was unique in his own way. He also loved planting rose bushes and cutting grass. His hobbies were watching sports. When it came to baseball he loved the L.A. Dodgers, basketball, the Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors, and college basketball, North Carolina.
David transitioned from this earthly life on May 1, 2025, at the age of eighty-eight years. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; seven sisters; daughter, Terri Lockett; two grandsons, Austin L. Lockett, Jr. and Joshua Lockett, and great-grandson, Ramirez Smith, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his daughter, Ramona Jackson (William); his two sons, Glenn F. Lockett, Sr. (Renay) and Austin L. Lockett, Sr.; grandchildren, Shawn Smith, William and Chenita Jackson, Antwan and Quana Jackson, Lakisha Faulkner, Tori Lockett and LaShelle Blades. He has 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
