Rosa Lee Hayes was born on March 8, 1953 in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Washington and Rosa Lee Lawrence and was the 11th of their 12 children.
Rosa relocated to Indianapolis, IN at the age of 18, where she met and married the love of her life, Melvin Hayes Sr. The couple shared over 50 years of wedded bliss, along with raising two beautiful children, Melvin Hayes Jr. and Le’Quisha Woods.
Rosa spent many years of her life taking care of children, from her grandchildren, those of family and friends, and several foster children. In addition to being a natural caretaker, she spent much of her time studying God’s word and delivering powerful messages to God’s people as a minister.
Rosa departed this life on September 22, 2025 at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Hayes Jr.
Rosa leaves to cherish her memories her husband Melvin Hayes Sr.; daughter Le’Quisha Woods; sister Mildred Lawrence; brothers Leroy Lawrence Sr., Otis Lawrence, and David Lawrence; four grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
John 14:3
