MICHAEL PRUITT, JR.

Michael L. Pruitt, Sr. was born on July 27, 1961, in East Chicago, Indiana. He was the son of the late Henry Pruitt, Sr. and Mary L. Pruitt.

Michael accepted Christ at a young age.  He became a member of Clark Road Missionary Baptist Church.

Michael attended and graduated from Calumet High School in Gary, Indiana. He went on to attend Ivy Tech Community College.

In his spare time Michael enjoyed watching basketball and football games.   He enjoyed all spectator sports.

Michael L. Pruitt Sr. departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories on July 28, 2025, at the age of sixty-four years. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Henry Pruitt, Sr. and Mary L. Pruitt, as well as his brother, Henry “Ricky” Pruitt Jr.

Michael is survived by his loving children, Michael L. Pruitt, Jr. and his wife, Tynicia Newman-Pruitt of Hawaii, Shanise Pruitt and Devonte Giles of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and his stepdaughter, Sherika Spencer. Michael was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, Gabriel, Makaila, Jalia, Brailon, Melody, Bryce, Jaya, Shaun, Shane, and Delilah.

Michael also leaves to cherish his memory his devoted big brother, Dwayne Pruitt Sr., and his wife, Pamela Pruitt, as well as his nieces and nephews, Dwayne Jr., Clinique, Valice (who also lovingly served as his caretaker) and her husband, LaTonn Thompson of Indianapolis, and Dirk Pruitt of Gary, Indiana. He is also remembered fondly by a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.

Michael’s life touched many, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
