MICHAEL GRAY, SR. Obituary

His Story

It is with profound sadness that the family of Michael Allen Gray Sr. share with you his passing on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the age of 45 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey and Preacious C. Gray. His sister, Andrea Gray preceded him in death.

"HIS-chapters" Michael's story of life began June 13, 1977, in Indianapolis, Indiana as the youngest son of Harvey and Preacious Gray. His early childhood education began with the                Indianapolis public school system, graduation from Lawrence North High School and further attendance at Ivy Tech Community College.

Michael's passion for sports led to his basketball success. However, his enthusiasm for sports did not begin at school; but, rather from a seed of joy planted by his mom and dad. Many youthful fishing trips continued throughout the years with great conversation. Who knew that such a tiny seed of family time would grow into a life-long purpose?

His on-going, freelance work in varied fields were a means to provide that purpose and was fulfilled with final employment at Roche Diagnostic in Indianapolis, Indiana.  But his greatest fulfillment was a constant, shared message of togetherness. Backyard barbecues usually ended in funny roundtable talks with childhood friends and family. He often said, " Families Stick Together!" because he truly believed that as truth.

He was baptized into Christ, August 2, 2015, gaining an extended group of families and friends. Michael was a protective, loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He touched the lives of others by his gift of shared purpose from a seed planted long ago.

He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Harvey and Preacious C.; his partner, Angela Colwell; his children, Deasia Gray-Taylor (Antonio Taylor Sr.), Shyauna Lynea Gray; Nadia Gabrielle Stennis, Mycah Aleise Gray, and youngest daughter, Jada Valerie Gray; his son, Michael Allen Gray Jr.; Maxwell Isiah Gray; Curtis Crawford Cherry III; Tyler Caldwell; and Jeremiah Brooks;  his  grandchildren, Chaíly Gray; Antonio Taylor Jr.; Khámiya and Malaiya-Tara Gray; his siblings, Chryle Yvonne Jenkins; Brenda Lee Jenkins; Harvey Jerome Gray III; Antoinette Gray-Hill, and niece, who was more like a sister, Shquan L. Jones, along with other favorable nieces and nephews, other relative and friends.
