Mervin Wilmont Moore, the youngest born to Andrew and Bessie Moore on October 22, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mervin departed this life on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the age of 61. His name, Mervin Wilmont Moore, was chosen with love and intention by Lolita Henderson – a name that would come to reflect strength, determination, and dignity he carried throughout his life.
Mervin was educated in the Indianapolis Public School system and attended Crispus Attucks High School, graduating class of 1982. He dedicated many years of faithful service as a Surgical instrument Technician, working at both Methodist Hospital (Indianapolis, Indiana) and Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, Tennessee). His attention to detail and commitment to excellence made a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike.
Mervin confessed hope in Christ and was baptized, uniting with Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. He was honored to serve as church trustee and contributed his time and talent to the Audio and Visual Ministry. Mervin used his gifts to support the church’s mission and worship experience.
Mervin held a deep appreciation for cars and spending time at the gun range. Whether behind the wheel or honing his skills with precision and focus, he found pure joy in activities that reflected both his passion and discipline. Both hobbies allowed him to connect with others who shared his interests.
Mervin was formerly married and remained devoted to his family throughout his life. He deeply cherished the time he spent with his friends and family. Whether sharing stories with his older brothers, laughing and talking with his nieces and nephews, or enjoying the simple moments with his childhood and neighborhood friends, Mervin brought warmth, humor, and love into every gathering. Mervin’s presence was a source of joy, and his connections with others reflected his generous heart.
His parents Andrew and Bessie Moore and nephew, Andre Moore, preceded him in death. Those left to honor and remembered Mervin’s life include his loving brothers, William “Billy” Moore, Jerome (Shirley) Moore, Angelo (Brenda) Moore, Wayne (Paula) Moore, Christian (Aleisha) Moore, and a host of devoted nieces and nephews, friends, and extended family who cherished him deeply. Mervin also leaves to cherish his memory a special friend, Maria De Campos, who brought him much joy and companionship to his life.
