MAURICE WRIGHT Obituary

Life and Legacy of Maurice

Maurice Alexander Wright age 46, was born August 15, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nevada to his parents Willie E. Wright and Mildred M. (Robinson) Wright at Women’s Hospital. Maurice, affectionately known as “MO”, was full of love and laughter and dedication to his family and friends. MO went Home to be with the LORD on January 14, 2026.

Maurice received his education through the Las Vegas School System and graduated from Las Vegas High School. He was in the marching band from the 5th grade to the 8th grade, where he played the alto saxophone. While in the 7th grade he his brother David began piano lessons. It was determined by his piano instructor that he had an almost perfect ear for music and could play all styles or genre of music, including classical. David also began his marching band experience as a drummer in the 5th grade, continuing his band experience through College at UNLV attending on scholarship. Maurice continued his marching band experience through high school playing alto saxophone and the tuba. He also took lessons for the guitar.

Maurice began his journey to learn about becoming a believer in Jesus Christ at an early age. His parents began to teach him and his brothers, Willie Jr. and David, about the goodness of GOD based on the principals of Proverbs 22:6. All 3 boys were award winning members of the Royal Rangers and participated in other youth activities and programs that set a solid foundation for Christ. He was baptized at the proper age.

Maurice had a love for music and art. He played multiple instruments including Piano and Hammond Organ, Wind Instruments, Reed Instruments, Acoustic and Electric-Base guitar. He could be seen many times sitting around playing his guitar at home and sometimes in coffee shops. Maurice got so skilled at playing the guitar with BOTH HANDS that his friends and strangers often compared him to Jimmy Hendrix. He also wrote songs for the rock band that he started with his friends. The name of the band was Serotonin, get it, Serotonin. The chemical in your body that makes you feel good. He was a very creative person. In addition to music he loved the arts. He could sketch or draw almost anything. He also had the ability to ink drawings in a way that would give the objects life. So it was no surprise when Maurice had determined to get a degree in Graphic Arts. Life happened and he was unable to complete his degree. However, he did submit a complete portfolio of artwork to Marvel Comics and did receive a response from them. He didn’t get the job but he was pleased to have received a response.

Maurice loved his friends and was loved by his friends. He did not need many, but he had many friends that were loyal and true to each other. They would always standby each other regardless of circumstances. Real friends. Maurice also had a fond appreciation for food that lead him to become a certified chef. The meals that he crafted were delicious beyond compare because he also infused them with love. Maurice answered the call when his brother, David had extreme medical issues and dropped everything to move to Las Vegas so that he could become David’s Personal Care Attendant (PCA).

Maurice was preceded in death by his mother: Mildred M. Wright. Maurice leaves precious memories to be cherished by his father: Willie E. Wright Sr.; brothers: Willie E. Wright Jr. and David L. Wright; and a host of uncles, aunts, and kinfolks, and many, many, many friends.
