On the chilly Friday of October 28, 1932, in Hughes, Arkansas, Early Charles and Hattie B. Lyons Mosley sent up prayers and a blessing came down. They had prayed for a Mattie Lee and got one! Mama was the 8th child of 14 and the 4th daughter, after twins Viddy and Tiddy got their wings. Only six months out of the year, Mama attended school. With only an 8th grade education, Mama was an entrepreneur, owning three businesses.
Mama was raised knowing the full power of prayer and witnessed the manifestation of miracles and great wonders. If Mama EVER prayed with or for you, it was like she had the direct line to Jesus! Mama was a bona fide, certified, and sanctified prayer warrior who got results! Mama was baptized in Greasy Corner Lake in Hughes, Arkansas, and never looked back or wavered in her faith! Mama was a lifelong and full-time soldier in the Army of the Lord! As a dutiful servant on the Mothers Board, she guided the young and old saints under the leadership of the late Elder Bobby Finley of Spirit of Truth Church. When health restraints prevented her from attending in person mama got her “thus says the Lord” through social media.
Daddy described Mama as dignified, friendly, and always ladylike. He also mentioned her big legs and what he called a “Soft Switch!” Her children’s dreams were never too big or out of reach. If you said you were going to the moon, she’d say, “call when you get there!”
Mama was a culinary genius. Uncle David said, “Mattie Lee could cook some shoe strangs and have you licking yo’ lips!” Her wedding cakes by M&A Catering were her claim to fame, far and wide. Mama’s success as a Mary Kay consultant inspired other family members to follow her lead to success in the business. She was a philanthropist. She dedicated and devoted her nickels and dimes faithfully to charities every month.
Mama’s healing hands, smile, hot line to heaven, and hearty “Loooord Jesus!” will be missed.

Special blessings and gratitude to Ms. Naomi Yancy for standing firmly, tirelessly, and prayerfully in the gap for us.
Last but never least, the personally hand-picked and sent from God, Mama’s care team: Monica Ivy (5 years), Teresa Willis, Nneka Ladapo-Ogunley, Briana Fischer, and Clydelta Patterson. Your combined sweet spirits were immeasurable gifts from above. From sitting at her bedside holding her hands, singing those old hymns, softly needing tough love, braiding her hair, massaging her body, gently keeping her refreshed, listening to Mama talk about us and life, to fixing that same cup of coffee over and over and over again, you all have earned stars in your crowns.
