Mrs. Mary Louise Hawkins was born on March 4, 1952, in Rockingham, North Carolina.
Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Louis Hawkins, Jr. in the summer of 1984 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mary gave her life to Christ in the early 2000's and became a member of Baltimore Street Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Roy Grundy.
She attended school to obtain her Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and then she drove semi-trucks across the country for 15 years. Mary retired from Commercial Driving in 1997 and dedicated more of her time to raise her grandson, Darius Hawkins and her family. Mary had a passion for baking, decorating her home, and caring for her family.
Mary loved children and the neighborhood she resided in. She and her husband Louis owned a Candy Store opened to people in her neighborhood. In the summer on most days, kids would come to their home to go swimming and eat snacks prepared by Mary.
Mary was an amazing mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the age of 70 years old. She has run the last mile; she has fought a good fight! She has made it and is now at peace and is free to live with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Edward Shephard, and Mary Elizabeth Batton.
Mary leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved husband, Louis Hawkins, Jr.; children, Tina O'Shields, Erika Hefner, Rochelle Gibson, and stepson, Anthony Hawkins; grandchildren, Darius Hawkins, Geno Vaughn, Robert A. Haeffner Ill, Cristofer, Gabriella and Anthony Mitchell De Flippo; brother and sister-in-law, David and Tracey Hawkins. She was loved by many extended family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.
