Mary Lou Craig, affectionately known to her family as “Queen B,” passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of seventy-two years. She was born on November 6, 1952, to her parents, the late John T. Lewis, Sr. and Leodies. Mary Lou embodied the spirit of a true queen bold, resilient, fiercely loyal, and unapologetically herself.
A natural leader, Mary Lou was strong-minded and never afraid to speak her mind. She carried herself with confidence and grace, often standing as the backbone of her family. Her words carried weight, her presence commanded respect, and her love ran deep.
Mary Lou accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Smith Temple Church of God in Christ. She attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, where her strong will and determination began to shine. She completed the prescribed course of study to pursue a career in nursing
Her heart for caring led her to a long and dedicated career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She served faithfully at Humana Hospital and through various private duty agencies, until she retired. She brought comfort, compassion, and strength to every life she touched.
Mary Lou leaves behind one son, Terrance Moore; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four loving brothers, Otha Lewis, John T. Lewis, Jr., Jessie Lewis, and Michael Lewis; three beloved sisters, Bynita Grimble, Sharon Prather (Darryl), and Venesa Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Lewis Sr. and Leodies Lewis; her husband, Raymond Craig; two sons, Ralph Moore, Jr. and Derrick Moore; two brothers, Otis Lewis and James Lewis, and two sisters, Etta Nesbitt and Alicia Clemons.
