Mark Avery McCombs, the son of LeRoy and Shirley McCombs, was born on January 18, 1961, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended the Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1979.
Mark’s talent for art was first noted at the age of 8 years, when one of his drawings was exhibited in the 500 Arts Festival in May of 1969. After graduating from high school, he decided to further his education in art and design. He attended the University of Arkansas from 1979 to 1980, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, John Herron School of Art in 1980 and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.
Mark had the honor of being listed in the 1996 Volume of the Outstanding Young Men of America that featured some of his accomplishments. He was also certified as an Eagle Scout, Troup 697 in December of 1978.
Mark’s love for his profession took him to several parts of the United States, starting locally, then to Fort Wayne, Indiana; Denver, Colorado; and finally to Phoenix, Arizona where he resided until the time of his illness.
Mark Avery McCombs departed this life on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the age of 61 years of age.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, LeRoy and Shirley McCombs; aunt, Barbara Hurt; uncle, Ronald McCombs, and a host of many relatives and friends.
