Her Story
Marie Elian was born on December 24, 1959, in Leogane, Haiti, to Estephen Elian and Vigina Dantica.
Marie lived a life led by faith, love, and service. She was a devoted member of Evansville Beacon Church of the Nazarene, where she found joy in serving and staying connected to her spiritual community. Being a servant in the house of the Lord was not just something she did. It was who she was.
She showed her love through her actions, always putting others before herself. If you needed her, she was there. She had the gift of prayer, and she used it often. She prayed over her family, over situations, over things seen and unseen. Her presence brought comfort. Her prayers brought strength. Through every season of her life, she trusted God. She carried herself with grace and allowed her faith to guide her in how she lived and loved.
Marie was a mother figure to many. A steady, dependable presence. The one people called. The one people leaned on. She was hard-working and self-driven, a self-made entrepreneur who created her own path and carried her family with her. In every sense, she was a poto mitan, the pillar that held everything together. Her absence leaves a deep space in her family that will always be felt. Her legacy is one of strength, sacrifice, and unwavering love.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Dorcaste Elian; her grandchildren, Marvin Jean, Marques Jean, Lanette Blanc, and Kendall Noel; her great-grandchild, Elijah Noel; her sisters, Marie Grace Elian and Lola Samson; her nieces and nephews, Phalonne Delva, Romario Delva, Robertho Delva, Mikerlange Delva, Johanne Delva, Daniel Canton, Mikaele Canton, Jean Frito Jean Vital, Michaelle Jean Vital, Jameson Rosemay, Darline Rosemay, Stephanie Malivert, Edwens Malivert, Wana Malivert, Delpierro Malivert and Fabie Derize; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Fabiola Delva Herard, Mickensley Doriean, Bethsaida Doriean, Athena Canton, Ny'Asia Milord, Jayden Delva, Adams Jaysen Delva, Ivan Delva, and Braylen Delva; her cousins, Raphael, Dieula, Guerdy Darius, and Marie Yolene Elian; her goddaughter, Mickerline Darius; her bonus son, Ronet Blanc; and her bonus nieces and nephews, Myriam Dumervil, Smylee Pierre, Jacob Pierre, Romeo Estimphil, Melissa Wells, Micah Wells Jr., Micayla Wells, Meleah Wells, and Milani Wells.
Marie was preceded in death by her son, Marshall Jean; her mother, Vigina Dantica; her father, Estephen Elian; her sister, Merite Herard; her brothers, Resnert Rosemay and Rosnert Rosemay; her nieces, Fritzlaine Delva and Marie Roodline Jean Vital; and her cousin, Madanm Andre.
