Mrs. Magnolia Seawood Powell was born on May 2, 1939, in Widener, Arkansas, to the late Earnest and Georgia Seawood. From the very beginning, her life reflected love, strength, grace, and unwavering faith in God. She carried a gentle spirit and a loving heart that touched everyone blessed to know her.
In 1957, Magnolia made Indianapolis, Indiana her home, where she built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and service. She became a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Moses Day, Jr. Magnolia loved the Lord deeply and lived her life as an example of kindness, compassion, humility, and unwavering love for others.
Magnolia was known for her hardworking spirit and dedication throughout her years of employment. She began working at Glendale House in 1965. She later worked for the Chrysler Automotive Plant from 1975 to 1977, the Juvenile Center from 1978 to 1980, and faithfully served at Allison Transmission from 1982 until her retirement in 2006. She took pride in her work and carried herself with dignity, strength, and determination.
Magnolia found joy in life’s precious moments. She loved cooking meals that brought family together, listening to music, singing, bowling, working puzzles, watching movies, shopping, and spending cherished time with those she loved. Her presence brought warmth, wisdom, laughter, and comfort.
Mrs. Magnolia Seawood Powell departed this earthly life on May 18, 2026.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Synott Powell; her cherished son, Sidney Powell, and her precious daughter, Stella Moorman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel Seawood and Solomon Seawood, and her sisters, Inez S. Knox, Sallie B. Seawood Phillips, Alberta S. Williams, and Earnestine S. Asbury-Billingsley.
Though our hearts are saddened by this earthly loss, we find peace and comfort in knowing Magnolia has entered eternal rest in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. Her faith carried her through life, and now she rejoices in God’s everlasting presence.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her nieces, Georgia (Robert) Smith and Bettie Suber; along with her caretakers, Angela Lee and Alice Smith; great-niece, Katricia “Juice” Moore and Javon Moore, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends. She was also a proud and loving great-great aunt to many who adored her dearly.
Magnolia’s legacy of faith, love, resilience, and devotion to family will continue to live on through all the lives she touched. Her beautiful spirit will never be forgotten, and her love will remain in our hearts forever.
