In Loving Memory
Lucille Coleman Luten departed on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the age of 86 years and 10 months.
Lucille Coleman “Granny” Luten was born to Jack J. Coleman and Mary Lee Nash Coleman on November 4th, 1935, in Waverly, Tennessee. She received her primary and secondary education in the local area schools, and graduated from Hampton High School in Dickson, Tennessee.
On, November 5, 1955, Lucille was united in Holy Matrimony to Fred Luten, Sr. The two moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and had three children, Sheila, Fred Jr., and Sundra. Before becoming a housewife to care for her family, she worked at Methodist Hospital as a nurse’s aide for five years.
Lucille professed Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a member and attended Westwood Missionary Baptist Church until her physical health started to decline.
Lucille loved the Lord with all her heart and instilled the love of the Lord in her family Lucille was the Matriarch of the Luten family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She had the purest soul, and she would give anyone the clothes off her back. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of others.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Luten, Sr.; daughters, Sheila V. Williams and Sundra L. Luten; son Frederick Luten, Jr.; granddaughter, Roberta L. Luten- Wilson; great grandson, Da’Shawn E. Wilson; brothers, Jack Coleman, Jr, Joe A. Coleman, Clyde Coleman, Thomas Coleman, Jerry Coleman, and John H. Coleman, and sisters, Mary A. Coleman, Ann Douglass, Teresa Hall, and Maudlene Burns.
Granny leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Ethel Barnes of Nashville, Tennessee; son, Roger W. Williams of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Robert L. Luten, Sr., Lakisha D. Wilson, Carey E. Wilson, Ishia R. Bolin, Francesca P. Hampton of Indianapolis; Nikole S. Luten of North Carolina, and Dominique Luten of Michigan; twenty-five great- grandchildren; seven great great -grandchildren, along with a host of three generations of nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends.
