Lowell Thomas, Jr., son of Lowell Thomas Sr. and Theadola McMillan Thomas was born October 3, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Lowell, Jr. affectionately known as Junior and June Bug, attended Hazel Hart Hendricks school 37 and Arsenal Tech High School. During his school years he was a Boy Scout, enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and was an outstanding skater.
Lowell, Jr. was the eldest son of Lowell Sr. and Theadola and big brother to the Thomas clan. He made every day in the Thomas household a big adventure. He was the leader of the pack, a jokester, “pull my finger”, “I’ll take the blame”, “couldn’t keep a secret” type of brother. Although he was mischievous, he took his role as protector very seriously and was the most loving brother and son a family could ask for.
Lowell, Jr. was a true family man. He married Armelda Moore Thomas at the young age of 17 and was blessed with beautiful twin daughters Aisha and Kiasha Thomas. He later met Lisa Larsuel and their union brought his only son Lowell Alexander Thomas and youngest daughter Alia Thomas. He shared a special bond with Armelda and Lisa and remained a lifelong friend to both.
Lowell was a licensed Pasteurizer for Dannon Yogurt Company for many years. He was also an experienced Forklift Operator and most recently worked for Ditech Inc. He took great pride in his lawncare skills and taking care of his family and friends’ lawns.
In 2017 Lowell, Jr. made a promise to his mother to turn his life around after many years of addition. The decision to enter The Progress House in January 2017 forever changed his life. At the time of his death, he celebrated 5 years and 3 months of sobriety. Lowell, Jr. learned in his sobriety the true beauty of life and its blessings. He lived life to the fullest and gave from the heart. He spent those five years making up for lost time with his family and living a life of love and redemption. He always saw the good in others regardless of their situation and sought to lift them up. He unselfishly gave food and money to the homeless, and always looked out for his neighbors. His good deeds, gifts and kindness were endless, for it truly gave him pleasure to give back to his family, friends and support those in need. He was a positive influence and source of encouragement to his family, friends and strangers through conversations, uplifting messages, funny stories and social media posts. His love for his children, grandchildren, parents and siblings was truly special and heartwarming. His greatest joy in life was being clear and present for his family and the love, support and pride he felt in return.
Lowell, Jr. was a man of deep spiritual faith who loved the Lord. He could often be found listening to his favorite Gospel Song “Something About The Name Jesus”. He walked in his light with a heart of gold and touched the lives of many, many people. His infectious smile, heartfelt laughter, giving spirit and loving heart will forever be missed and cherished.
Lowell Thomas, Jr. departed this life on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the age of 60 years, seven months, and 25 days. His parents, Lowell Thomas Sr., and Theadola McMillan Thomas; brother, Larry T. Thomas; and best friend, Stephen Cole all preceded him in death.
